Experience
Each student is different, and I take pride in my focus of fitting each lesson to a student's strengths and needs. I hope to show students that math can be fun and interesting, that it is not boring, and it's okay to make mistakes. I use updated instructional methods so that my students are engaged, feel encouraged, and have plenty of resources. We have conversations about math, I use visuals and games, and encourage productive struggle. My students know that with determination and hard work, they will master the subject. It is incredibly satisfying to see a student overcome challenges and build on their knowledge. I have taught social studies, study skills, and science for many years. Currently, I teach math to seventh and eighth graders at a junior high school. I am a lead teacher at the school as well as part of my school district's leadership team. In addition, I work as an independent contractor at a local university responsible for the professional development of other math teachers. As a math teacher for junior high students, I have developed a passion for making the subject of math available for everyone. I look forward to sharing my love of learning. I enjoy planning parties, scrapbooking, reading, and crafts.
